[/PTab][PTab=Threads]
Threads are what moves the site forward. It is where everything happens. On Naruto: Taifuuden there are three kinds of threads: Groups, Singles and Missions. When finished with a thread of either type, post a link to it in the modifications forum for evaluation and reward. Below you will see a brief description of what the four thread types are:
Groups
Groups are threads done with other people. In order to encourage character interaction, and to make up for possible slowing of threads due to longer waiting times, all characters in a social gets +1 free point for each person above two present in the thread. During evaluation, a social gives anything from 1-10 points, before adding bonuses. Take note, if there are any genin, chuunin, or Tokubetsu chuunin in the thread they get x2 the amount of EXP including the added bonuses. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THESE RANKS!!
Singles
Singles are like Groups, except done alone and don't gain a bonus based on how many people are in the thread, with 10 being the maximum. Instead they can be used for character development when needed. Take note, if there are any genin, chuunin, or Tokubetsu chuunin in the thread they get x2 the amount of EXP including the added bonuses. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THESE RANKS!!
Missions
Missions are also pretty simple. Whenever on a mission, a moderator will post one of these for you. They will almost always involve more people, but will not yield the +1 bonus. However, they will award you with money, mission points and EXP as if it was a Single. Take note, if there are any genin, chuunin, or Tokubetsu chuunin in the thread they get x2 the amount of EXP including the added bonuses. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THESE RANKS!!
[/PTab][PTab=Stats]
On Clash of the Kunai, your character has a total of twelve stats in order to portray the difference in power between various people, as well as each individuals' strengths and weaknesses. The stats are as follows:
PHYSICAL:
Force:
Your character's physical strength and Endurance. A person with more Force will be able to overpower an opponent with less, as well as resist damage more easily. It is used to portray the power of Taijutsu and thrown weapons.
Speed:
Your character's physical speed and reaction time. A person with more speed will be able to dodge an opponent with less, if attacked head on. They are also quick to set up counters, which works well together with a high strength.
Physical Energy:
Physical Energy is your character's amount of physical energy, and part of their overall stamina.
Accuracy:
Your character's base aim. This stat is used for long range and hand-to-hand attacks, be it weaponry or jutsu.
MENTAL:
Ninjutsu:
Ninjutsu is how well your character can use and recognize Ninjutsu.
Taijutsu:
Taijutsu is how well your character can use Taijutsu skills, while also being how well they can control their body.
Genjutsu:
Genjutsu is how well your character can use and repel Genjutsu.
Intelligence:
Intelligence is your characters cognitive power, their ability to take in information and make use of it. The higher your character's Intelligence, the less EXP they need to spend for jutsu.
MYSTICAL:
Power:
Your character's spiritual power, and the strength of Ninjutsu.
Control:
Control is how well your character can use and manipulate Chakra. Those with higher control will be much more precise. This can also change the speed of some Ninjutsu.
Spiritual Energy:
Your character's amount of spiritual energy, and part of overall Stamina.
Ocular Development:
A Doujutsu only stat that shows how much control the user has over their ocular powers. Used to determine stages and available Doujutsu.
Raising a stat costs the new level x 3 unless you have a specific ninja type that allows otherwise. The first point is always free.
Depending on your starting rank, you get different starting EXP to use for raising your stats. See the Ninja ranks for specifics.
[/PTab][PTab=Jutsu]
Your jutsu, be it Nin, Tai, Gen or Nintaijutsu, are controlled by your stats, from everything to how they work, to if they can even be learned by someone like you. Each rank of Jutsu require a certain amount of points in one or(in the case of Nintaijutsu) two stats. The charts are as follows:
[/PTab][PTab=Learning Jutsu]
To learn new jutsu, one must pay an amount of EXP, with the prices shown below:
However, you Intelligence comes into play when learning jutsu. Whenever you learn a jutsu, subtract half of your Intelligence score from the number of EXP needed, rounded down, unless you have a Ninja Type that says otherwise. You must pay at least one EXP no matter your Intelligence score.
Note: In the beginning you don't start with any jutsu, and there is no limit to the amount that you learn as long as you use the correct amount of EXP. You're welcome to try and create custom jutsu and add them as one of your free jutsu at character creation. Custom jutsu cost the same amount as regular jutsu.
[/PTab][PTab=Elemental Affinity]
Every ninja has an elemental affinity, which has to be discovered and mastered in order to put it to use. Just like with jutsu, element affinity has a stat requirement and a cost in EXP which must be spend learning to use the element properly. Genin does not start with an elemental affinity, Chuunin may start with one nature, and Jounin may start with two, unless of an advanced element bloodline, in which this number is increased by one for each. The charts are as follows:
Note: Intelligence brings down the cost for affinities just as with jutsu.
[/PTab][PTab=In Character Battles]
In the world of Naruto: Taifuuden, fighting is almost inevitable. When fighting another member, there are a few guidelines to stick to, and some(obvious) rules. The rules are as follows:
Otherwise, there are some guidelines and some add-ons to the rules that needs to be explained more in depth. First of all, even if you must play according to your stats, they are only a guideline. A person with higher Force than you are not completely untouchable, same goes for a person with higher Speed. Remember to take in situational modifiers when fighting.
Second of all, when fighting, special rules apply. Whenever your character attack, you may post as if it hits, to give your opponent a look into the desired effect of your attack(Just remember not to directly control the opponent or decide that they get knocked out!). However, in turn, should they be able to, stat and/or situation-wise, avoid, block or deflect the attack before it hit/did any damage, they may do so, and possibly do a counter attack. This is to allow fights to flow more fluidly, and to avoid misunderstandings in desired effects. Remember, however, if you stop a ninja from performing a move, everything they did after that is negated! Here's a simple example:
Haruki is fighting Garyou. Haruki is faster than Garyou by two points, while Garyou is stronger by two. The rest is pretty much even. Garyou starts out with an attack, which might go something like this:
"Garyou darted at Haruki, throwing his arm forward, his tightly clenched fist striking Haruki in the face, sending him back forcefully."
This is an example of an "auto-hit", though it can be negated in several ways. Here are two examples:
"Haruki watched, as Garyou came at him full speed, throwing up a guard, by crossing his arms in front of his face. It was enough to stop the attack from striking clean, but still hurt his arms."
or
"Haruki watched, as Garyou came at him full speed. Knowing he had the time to react, he quickly side-stepped, avoiding the fist, before throwing his own into the gut of the attacking ninja."
The first example has Haruki blocking the attack, nulling the "throwing back" part, as well as some of the damage. The second has him use his speed to avoid the attack and throw a counter attack, which, due to the situational modifier, would be hard to avoid, even if Garyou was the faster one. There are a million examples, but it would be a drag to read, so just try it out or ask a mod if unsure about what would be acceptable.
[/PTab][PTab=Birthdays]
Characters have two birthdays a year, however, IC this will still count as only once a year. When making your character, you are required to put in their birthday. This is the actual date of their birth IC. However, in real time, this means they have birthdays on both this actual date and 6 months later, on the same day.
Example: Hyuuga Haru's birthday is April 2nd, this means that his two birthdays are April 2nd and October 2nd (six months later)
When a character grows a year older, post in the modification forum to claim a birthday present. This can be either 5 EXP or 50.000 Ryo.
[/PTab][PTab=PowerSlots]
On Clash of the Kunai, there are no specific clans due to interbreeding of the clans long before the creation of the villages. People are allowed to intermarry and interbreed as they wish, making ninja more varied. To illustrate this, and to limit the extraordinary abilities of each character, we make use of Power Slots. Each character has three Power Slots, which they may use however they want, within certain guidelines. A list of examples of Powers are shown below:
Some Powers, more specifically Kekkei Genkai, Hijutsu and Advanced Elements, must be added to the profile at character creation, as they come from either genetics or, in the case of Hijutsu, at least familial relation. The rest can be added as you gain them, but remember, a character only has three Power slots in total. More rules include:
- Don't act like a mod- you can help other members, but don't act as if you hold authority over others if you're not part of the staff team.
- No racist, sexist, homophobic or other derogatory slurs will be accepted.
- No porn- Posting any 18+ material, visual or otherwise, will result in an instant banning of your account. If you are unsure as to whether or not a picture you would like for your character is appropriate, ask a mod.
- No posting about animal abuse, child abuse, and other sick things.
- Don't ask for things and say that you deserve them.
- No powergaming; this involves controlling another's character, as well as playing your character beyond their ability. If you are unsure wither or not an action counts as powergaming, ask a mod.
- No metagaming; this means your character should not magically have knowledge of things, just because you have it.
- When posting in threads with other people, please be patient and wait for others to post instead of rushing ahead. In threads of 2-3, it is socially acceptable to skip a persons "turn" when they haven't posted for at least 3 days, unless agreed otherwise with the players themselves. In groups of 4+, the order can be more mixed, but we'd like to see that a person waits for at least 2 posts to be done before he posts again, if not agreed otherwise. This rule does not apply on people whose characters are in the same thread, while being at separate places IC.
- Items that you buy are a permanent total. At the start of each new thread all of your items are replaced if they were used, lost or broken. You may, however, keep your items broken/lost for the sake of rp'ing, if you'd like.
- If your character should be so unfortunate, unlucky, or plain stupid to die, your character will be lost.
- Character must be a minimum of 12 years of age.
- Characters controlled by the same player cannot get the +1 bonus for group threads.
- Characters may only be at one place on the world map at once, meaning one thread. You can however be in a Colosseum match as well.
- All in-character posts should be written in third person, past tense.
- Original characters only, and don't make your characters related to any canon characters.
- All IC posts should be a minimum of 100 words.
