Hayato had readied himself for his day trek into the desert, but something left an uneasy feeling in his stomach. The young man slid his robe over his body and pulled his fur-lined hood atop his head. Not only was his robe a fashion statement but it also kept Kaze no Kuni's intense sunrays out. Hayato quickly made his way to the front of Izumigakure where there was a camel drawn cart. The boy pulled his hood off revealing his messy hair and face. The cart was loaded with a multitude of crates and various sacks; continually, the cart was being driven by two men. What looked to be the older of the two men spoke first, "is this the ninja they assigned to us," questioned the grey-haired man. "He looks a little young," added the other man before Hayato could get a word in. "Don't worry, I've got this handled," replied the genin with a half smile. "Feel free to sit in the back of the cart and we'll be off," uttered the older man as he climbed up on the front of his cart. The other man climbed up as well and both of them readied the camel. A single camel, to take us across the desert, great, considered the boy as he climbed into the back of the wooden cart. Hayato had to shuffle a few things to make enough space for himself. Moreover, the young man was quick to pull out his grimoire and some ink. Following this, he began inscribing Fuuton: Daitoppa into the book. He listed: the technique's required hand seals, the maximum and minimum range, and the elemental nature. The boy also wrote down his desired power from the technique, 'piercing squall that could topple a tree'. The two men leading the cart were chatting about the ongoing sandstorms and how the trio was riding right into one. Hayato was entirely focused on his ancient text where there were currently various lights flashing out of. A warm yellow glow emanated from the grimoire lighting up the young man's face; his own chakra began to transfer into the words he wrote into his handy book. After some time, Hayato had managed to use Jumon Fūin and successfully seal a single fuuton jutsu into his grimoire.

After sealing a jutsu into his grimoire, Hayato closed the book up and placed it back in its designated pouch on the right side of his body. The moment he looked up his eyes crossed paths with the eyes of the younger cart driver. He gave the teen a smile before saying, "the storm will soon be upon us, please be ready for anything." The large man turned away before giving Hayato a chance to respond maintaining the eye contact they shared while replying. With a sigh, the young man softly replied saying, "my eyes are peeled." The camel leading the cart let out loud groan followed by a high-pitched bleat; the older cart driver patted the beast on its head. Sound soon became droned out by the bottomless roar of the surrounding sandstorms. Hayato's fur-lined hood provided the upmost protection in times like this, but he had to keep a lookout for threats in the storm. Everything seemed fine as the trio moved through the storm for a few minutes unscathed, but before he knew it something collided with the wooden cart's side. Luckily, the cart itself was not damaged, but this blast did send one of the men tumbling off of the cart into the sand. The camel abruptly stopped and let out a loud bleat followed by a dense bellow; continually, a volley of arrows were launched in the wooden cart's direction. Hayato quickly leapt off of the wooden cart and reached for his kunai. He activated his Ousengan and used Shinko Igamu to deflect a majority of the arrows with his single kunai. The flurry of six arrows bounced off of the genin's kunai and launched into the nearby sand. At this point, Hayato had put away his kunai and his feet had already hit the ground; moreover, he was now starring in the direction of where the arrows came from. The sandstorm parted momentarily only to reveal a burst of fireballs flying towards Hayato, who as standing at the side of the wooden cart. The genin's hands quickly moved to the desert floor where he used Doton: Doroku Gaeshi to summon a wall of earth in front of him. The fireball had shuriken inside of them, so when they collided with the earth wall they remained burning. "The two of you need to get out of this storm now, I'll be behind you," called out Hayato in the ongoing sandstorm the trio was caught in. There was a few thuds as three shuriken collided into the genin's rock wall. The two older men managed to encourage their camel enough to get it moving with the cart again, but this left Hayato stranded in the midst of a storm. He peeked out from his wall only to have two more shuriken thrown his way. Trying to keep me pinned down huh, that must mean one of you, the genin's thought was interrupted with what he just had expected. A lone bandit was chasing after the camel driven cart on his own sandy brown ungulate. Regardless of the ongoing storm, Hayato's accurate dōjutsu snapped to the bandit in hot pursuit of the cart supplies; simultaneously, the genin removed his grimorie from its pouch and flipped the pages open. "Fuuton: Daitoppa," called out the teen as he pressed his hand against his inscription. His book released a yellow-green glow, and Hayato proceeded to aim the open-faced book at his target. A large gust of wind was blasted from the teen's grimoire; continually, it was perfectly aimed at the bandit pursuing the wooden cart. When his fuuton jutsu was launched another jutsu collided with his stone wall. This time it was a much larger condensed fireball. Despite its size, Hayato did not notice the attack until it was too late. His burst of wind was successful at knocking the other bandit off of his camel, but Hayato could not relish in his victorious attack. Currently, his head was buried in the sand due to being launched back a few meters.

Luckily for Hayato, his earth wall protected him from a majority of the fire damage. The subsequent concussive blast left him dazed and knocked over momentarily. When he rose back to his feet his eyes were met with a small woman running at him. In her right hand she had a knife which she was bearing partially behind her; Hayato shifted his stance slightly assuming the Kata no Himawari fighting style. The hooded woman was quick to stab at the teen's gut, but he managed to pivot her stab and grab her stabbing arm. With his left hand holding onto her right wrist, Hayato kneed to woman in the stomach causing her to drop the knife. Following this blow, the genin aimed for a red colored area on her skull, the temple. With one jab to the temple the woman fell over keeling in pain. "I won't pretend like bandits don't live a difficult life, but I have no respect for people like you either," uttered Hayato in a harsh tone as he reached for his kunai. The teen crouched down near the bandit collapsed in pain. Hayato went to cut the woman's throat when she threw a large amount of sand in his face. In that moment, the bandit attempted to run off, but Hayato quickly held his hands out using Jiton: Satetsu Shigure to create a large amount of iron sand spikes. They all launched off together at once towards the fleeing bandit, and even though the genin's vision was obscured, enough of the spikes connected. They stabbed through the woman in all directions pinning her to the sand. Hayato cleared his face of sand and retrieved his grimoire that had fallen into the sand. His Ousengan trained on the impaled bandit; he used Jiton Satetsu Soujuu to pull his iron sand back to him. The iron spikes removed themselves from the surrounding area and combined into one clump of iron sand. The shiny material floated back into Hayato's tiny gourd on his waist.

Those ringed amber eyes of his searched the sandstorm for the wooden cart. The sand storm had for the most part completely destroyed any tracks the cart left behind as well. Hayato barely managed to follow in the direction of where the wooden cart was heading last. The only benefit of the ongoing sandstorm was that it kept a majority of the sun's harsh rays out. The desert was still hot but nothing Hayato was not accustomed to. After walking for what must have been at least a half hour, the genin noticed both men tending to the wooden cart in the sandstorm. Did, I not say to leave the storm, people always insist on doing what they please not what they're told, ruminated Hayato in thought as he approached the wooden cart. His Ousengan deactivated and he spoke before either of the men, "everything intact here?" The older man gave him a sharp stare and replied by saying, "you knocked the only bandit after us clean into next week!" The younger man gave the older wan a bewildered look and then replied to Hayato as well, "we're fine also if you cared." The younger man was feeding the camel while the older one was drinking water atop the cart. "Let's go buster," said the grey-haired man to the man tending to the camel. Everyone climbed aboard the lowly wooden cart again and headed off. The older man's voice bellowed over the storm when he said, "we'll be outta this beast real soon, then we can stay the night and head back tomorrow without any storms!" Hayato panicked for a moment when he heard the old man's deep voice. Stay the night as in not going home after this mess, worried the genin in thought.

Not much time passed before the trio escaped the vicious sandstorms. There was silence between all three of the men on the wooden cart, the camel dared not even make a sound. The trio had encountered death but survived with gritted teeth. Moments like this often left people deep in thought, devoid of any spoken word. In this time Hayato turned to a new page in his grimoire; he soon began inscribing the details of Doton: Kengan no Jutsu onto this page. His ink wrote down things such as: the technique's range, classification, and hand seals. After that, he used more of his ink to describe the jutsu in great detail. His hand moved lower on the page where he wrote the technique's desired effect, 'earth shattering punch'. Lastly, Hayato used most of his remaining chakra to use Jumon Fūin and seal a doton jutsu into his grimoire. With roughly a half hour left in their journey Hayato took a brief nap only to be awoken by a flick to the nose. "Young shinobi, hey you," called out the younger of the two cart drivers when he flicked Hayato on his pointed nose. The genin's amber eyes snapped open looking over at his supposed attacker. With a deep yawn Hayato spoke, "sorry let's get to it, and bring these supplies into town." The young man subsequently jumped out of the wooden cart and bean carrying crates into the town. It took the three men a few trips but they managed to bring the supplies into the village's center. "Alrighty then, now let's see who w-- announced the grey-haired man before he was interrupted by a frail looking woman. "That would be me, Tsu. I will have my men load these supplies into our storehouse. Now where is the shinobi that supposedly aided your journey," questioned the older lady as four burly men rushed around her. They swiftly picked up the supply crates; meanwhile, Tsu was prodding at the younger of the two cart drivers. "It's this one isn't it? He looks mighty fine," hypothesized the frail lady. The younger man let out a hefty chortle before replying, "oh no, it's that young man over there," he said pointing at the hooded Hayato. Tsu bowed before the genin and said, "I would offer you gifts for your service to our small town, but as you can see... we're dirt poor!" The lady was slapping her knee and bent over with laughter, but she continued on saying, "all I can offer you is a place to rest your head for the night, all three of you!" The town's head lead the three men to the only inn in town, where every room was empty. Luckily for the trio, the inn had a capacity of four rooms. Hayato was quick to isolate himself from everyone else by locking his room door. The genin removed his robes and put his grimoire down on a nearby desk. He walked over to his nearby bed and pulled the sheets back; Hayato sat down on the side of his bed kicking his boots off. Free at last for some uninterrupted sleep, considered the young man as he dozed off in his inn room.

Despite not having eaten much at all, Hayato slept through the rest of the previous day and night. He woke up early the following morning hungry and dazed; the genin looked around his end room while still in bed. I went to sleep in my clothing, what the hell was I thinking, questioned the young man in thought as he rose form his bed. He pulled his boots back over his feet and tied them as tight as possible. Following this, Hayato retrieved his grimoire and placed it in its respective pouch. He threw his robees over his body and ready to head out. When the teen opened his inn room door ready to leave his nose was overwhelmed with a wonderful scent. Both of the cart drivers were sitting together with a huge platter of Kaze no Kuni's specialty, sand dumplings! Hayato was not easily excited, but his deprived stomach pulled him towards the dumplings. Without saying anything the boy began eating a rapid rate; the two cart drivers laughed together and placed their hands on each of the genin's shoulders. "You're welcome for the food," announced the grey-haired man with a playful tone in his voice. In the midst of eating, Hayato looked up and said, "thank you," with a garbled tone. Before he could finish the dumplings there was a loud crash from outside the inn; Hayato immediately got up from his seat and burst outside. There was a plume of sand kicked up in the distance that obscured his vision. Within mere moments, a group of three individuals came walking out of the kicked up sand. The individual in the middle was hooded with no apparent weapons; in opposition, the other two individual's flanking the one in the middle were both carrying bo staves. Two rings formed around Hayato's amber eyes as he activated his Ousengan. Meanwhile, the center most individual began to yell out to the town, "give us all of those supplies delivered here and no one gets hurt!" Memories of Hayato's early childhood rushed back. I can't let something like that happen again, pondered the genin in intense thought. "Someone come out and fucking answer me," screamed the hooded individual. The genin removed his grimorie from its pouch and flipped to a specific page. He pressed his hand to the inscription on the page and called out, "Fuuton: Daitoppa." His grimoire lit up with an intense yellow-green glow, and he aimed it in the direction of the trio of strangers. His inscription faded from the book after its second use. "What the hell," questioned one of the men wielding a bo staff when Hayato's jutsu was launched. The large gust of wind sent each of the individuals in varied directions. The genin then proceeded to turn into a fluid and seep into the sandy ground by using Doton: Dochuu Senkou. He located one of the strangers from below the earth and began speeding up towards him. When in range Hayato turned his hand back to normal and used Doton: Shinjuu Zanshu no Jutsu to pull one of the bo staff individual's down into the sand. The genin quickly burst back above the sand reverting to his physical form; continually, the other two bandits began rushing him. The hooded one was closing in quicker, but Hayato had enough time to flip open his grimoire. His right hand gracefully touched the page when he called out, "Doton: Kengan no Jutsu!" His whole right arm encased in stone and he dropped his grimoire to intercept the hooded bandit's attack. Before they could punch the genin, Hayato delivered a concussive blow to an orange highlighted area on their jaw. This sent the hooded bandit to the ground knocked clean out. The other bandit was slamming down on Hayato with his bo staff; the genin used his rock encased right arm to block the attack. He grabbed the man's weapon disarming him, and following that the rocks encasing Hayato's arms dispersed. Before the bandit could counterattack Hayato threw his staff to the ground and used Jiton Satetsu Soujuu to transfer a decent amount of iron sand from his gourd. The iron sand surrounded the bandit's head wrapping tightly around it; Hayato was depriving him of oxygen by sealing off all open spaces surrounding the bandit's head. It only took a few moments for the man to pass out and collapse to the sandy ground. The townsfolk helped tie up the three bandits and load them back into the wooden cart Hayato arrived on. For the genin's ride back to Izumigakure he had to sit in the back of the cart with three annoying bandits. They all complained the entire ride about how they would be thrown into jail. Hayato did his best to use iron sand to cover their mouths, so they could not speak. The group arrived back at Izumigakure where the bandits were delivered to other ninja, and Hayato parted ways with the two cart drivers. He went home and ate a large sum of sand dumplings before passing out reading some random book.
